Data Solutions Director

Position Overview:

The Data Solutions Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of data solutions within an organization. This role involves managing a team of data professionals and collaborating with stakeholders to identify business needs, design effective data solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making processes. The Data Solutions Director plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization's data infrastructure, systems, and processes are aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

• Develop a strategic vision and roadmap for data solutions that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Identify opportunities for data-driven initiatives and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

Team Management:

• Lead a team of data professionals, including data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and other relevant roles.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a high-performing and collaborative team environment.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and business users, to understand their data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
• Facilitate communication and alignment between the data solutions team and other departments.

Project Management:

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of data solutions projects, including planning, resource allocation, timelines, and budget management.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

• Stay updated on emerging data technologies, tools, and trends such as AI/ML.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate data solutions, platforms, and vendors to meet organizational needs.
• Oversee the implementation and integration of new data technologies.

Continuous Improvement:

• Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the data solutions department.
• Identify opportunities to enhance processes, optimize data workflows, and leverage automation and machine learning techniques to drive efficiency and productivity.

Data Analytics and Insights:

• Work closely with data analysts and data scientists to derive actionable insights from data.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define key performance indicators and metrics that drive data-driven decision-making and improve business outcomes.

Data Collaboration and Partnerships:

• Identify opportunities for data collaboration and partnerships with external entities, such as research institutions, industry associations, or government agencies.
• Foster relationships that enable data sharing and mutually beneficial collaborations.

Data-Driven Innovation:

• Foster a culture of data-driven innovation within the organization.
• Encourage the exploration of new data sources, techniques, and technologies to drive innovation and gain a competitive edge. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degrees and certifications are a plus.

  Proven experience (7 - 10 years) in data management, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial position.

  Strong understanding of data management principles, data governance, and best practices.

  Proficiency in data technologies and tools, such as data visualization, analytics platforms, and AI/ML.

  Knowledge of programming languages, such as SQL, Python, or R.

  Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a diverse team.

  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.

  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time and within budget.
